Resident Shelter Manager
Montgomery County SPCA
The Montgomery County SPCA, with shelter locations in Conshohocken, Perkiomenville and Abington is currently seeking a Shelter Manager for our Perkiomenville location. The Perkiomenville site encompasses sixty-two acres. We provide a large and well maintained home on the property for the manager of this facility. The property has a barn currently housing seven horses. It is also used to house various farm animals. The facility itself is equipped to house one-hundred and fifty domestic animals. Full-time Veterinarians are on site daily to provide animal healthcare and perform neutering of all animals adopted from our shelters. The Shelter Manager will report to and work closely with the Executive Director. The Shelter Manager will also work closely with the staff at the Administration Office and shelter in Conshohocken to ensure consistency of policies and procedures at all three shelters.
Responsibilities include:
Oversight of all aspects of day to day shelter operations.
Hiring, training and managing staff with emphasis on animal care and customer service.
Investigating cruelty complaints in the surrounding community.
Working with law enforcement agencies.
Requirements for the position include:
BS in Animal Husbandry, or equivalent work experience.
Two years of management experience in a shelter environment (8 to 10 employees).
Humane Society Police Officer Certification or Completion of Humane Society Police Officer Training.
Willing to relocate to house on the property: this is provided rent-free.
Prior experience in animal shelter operations and handling horses is a plus.

The Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter is seeking a full or part-time Director of Shelter Development. This position requires a person having the ability to lead and direct employees of this organization. The person for this position will be leading an existing team of individuals who have many years of dedicated service. These employees are serving in an excellent professional manner involving animal care and sheltering practices, daily business/financial oversight, outstanding public relations representation and customer care. The desired Director’s position is accomplished indoors with little, if any overnight travel requirement and under direct supervision of the leadership of the Board of Directors. Requirements: 1. Background or training in management and/or leadership skills. 2. Must be able to demonstrate a history of successful team building. 3. Must be able to demonstrate history of successful fundraising and grant writing ability. 4. Executive Director
Delaware County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA)
Located in suburban Philadelphia, the Delaware County SPCA has been dedicated to promoting the welfare of companion animals since 1911. Today, with an operating budget of approximately $1.6 million and a reserve fund of approximately $6 million, this open-admission shelter cares for nearly 8,000 animals annually and supports a broad range of programs from adopting homeless animals and reuniting lost animals with their owners to offering low-cost vaccination and microchipping clinics.
The new Executive Director will work with the Board of Directors to build a shared vision for the organization’s future. He or she will be responsible for the overall management of the organization and will play a lead role in positioning the organization for a capital campaign to fund a new facility. The Executive Director serves as principal ambassador to the SPCA’s external constituents and plays a key role in fostering the development of new and innovative programs and ensuring that they are implemented in the best possible fashion.
The successful candidate for this position will possess strong leadership abilities, a passion for working with an active and engaged board, and the ability to relate effectively to a wide range of constituencies. Experience with a capital campaign and facility renovation/construction is highly desirable.
